porosity of the reinforcement and viscosity of the resin.
Vectorply’s Technical Support Team provides builders
with flow prediction and permeability flow index before

| The finished laminate measures as predicted
2.5” thick, exactly 21 times the thickness of
1 layer. Even under the pressure of the vacuum the channeled,
infusion specific reinforcement does not compress allowing
resin the flow to achieve thorough wet-out. |
|
Under vacuum pressure reinforcements compress choking resin flow all
the while stalling infusion, and compromising laminate thickness and stiffness.
Until today.
Introducing VectorFusion, a whole new family of multiplane infusion
specific reinforcements designed to maximize permeability and
minimize fabrication time.
How it works
Vectorply’s proven non-crimp multiaxis technology provided the
DNA for the new generation of reinforcements like E-2LTi 7200
and E-3LTi 10800, the thickest reinforcement of it’s kind. It
starts with a unique multiplane architecture and precision-guided
fibers bonded together with proprietary stitch mechanisms. The
roving bundles sustain loft ensuring the laminate will achieve
the greatest thickness and more importantly will not be resin
deprived.
The triple zero, triple ninety multiplane architecture creates
a stacking geometry that keeps channels open for air to escape
and for resin to flow both quickly and simultaneously across and
through the layered surface. The stitch-bonded construction provides
a smoother finished surface with less print-through compared to
other high crimp and “z” axis type reinforcements.
Our stitching process also means that reinforcements can be cut without
unraveling prior to installation, reducing waste and saving time. Vectorfusion
reinforcements are designed for the infusion process, without the need
for aids such as plastic flow mediums and meshes that add weight and cost.
Successful infusion is in the details; material choices have been fine-tuned,
procedures routinely reviewed for efficiency, and a dedicated workforce
have been trained for the job. Vectorply’s Technical Support and
Solutions team is an integral part to this process starting with a thorough
analysis of current laminates.
With the help of Vectorply’s feasibility study of the shop environment
and powerful design software, VectorLam engineers may compare laminate
design on the basis of stiffness, strength, weight, cost and the influence
that the new infused laminate will have on the overall structure of the
part. This analysis permits us to successfully build the key ingredient-
the reinforcement. After all, nothing happens unless the reinforcement
can be infused.
